Cloudflare Tests EmDash CMS on Its Own Blog Before Wider Rollout

On August 12, Cloudflare migrated its blog to EmDash, a custom content management system (CMS) built for Astro and Cloudflare. The migration aimed to validate EmDash's scalability and usability under real-world conditions, serving as Cloudflare's first internal customer. The blog handles traffic ranging from 75 requests per second (RPS) to spikes exceeding 5,000 RPS, often triggered by viral posts. EmDash underwent usability tests, including publishing workflows and media management, with gaps identified in scheduled posts, which were resolved in version 0.19.0. The move highlights Cloudflare's practice of using its own products internally to refine them before wider deployment.
